Hard surfaces accumulate damage that routine care cannot address — deep-set soils in grout lines, surface micro-abrasion on stone, haze buildup on porcelain, and sealer degradation on travertine and marble. Salem Steamer applies a structured renewal process calibrated to each surface type. We work with natural stone — marble, travertine, limestone, slate — as well as ceramic, porcelain, and engineered hard surfaces. Each material has distinct requirements for chemistry, agitation, and protection. Our process respects those distinctions and delivers a measurably renewed surface without compromising the material.
Our Process
Each surface is assessed for material type, finish, porosity, and existing sealer condition. This determines the appropriate treatment approach, including pH-controlled chemistry selection and mechanical agitation method.
High-pressure, controlled extraction removes soils and biofilm from grout lines and surface pores. The process is calibrated to avoid surface etching while achieving thorough penetration.
Where required, surface refinement addresses micro-scratching, haze, and oxidation. Mechanical methods are selected based on material hardness and finish specification to restore clarity and uniform sheen.
A topical or penetrating sealer appropriate to the material and environment is applied to protect the renewed surface. Sealer type and application method are selected for durability, compatibility, and the intended use of the space.
